Practice Letting Go: This Week’s Shabach Yoga Reflection

Last month was a particularly tender season for me. My beloved mother, Rosa Smith, transitioned. During that time, I paused many things — including the journal prompts I had begun sharing with our community.

Recently, a client mentioned that she noticed they were missing and shared that she had actually been using them. It meant more to me than she probably realized to hear that someone was reading, reflecting, and engaging with the emails I send. So the prompts are returning.

This month at Shabach Yoga, our theme is Practice Letting Go. On the mat, letting go might mean releasing tension in the body or surrendering the need to “get the pose right.” Off the mat, it can invite us to release expectations, worries, old stories, or even the pressure we place on ourselves.

Reflection can help us notice what we might be holding onto.

Journal Prompt

What is something you may be ready to release — even if you're not quite sure how to let it go yet?

Write honestly. There’s no right answer.

Sometimes the first step in letting go is simply acknowledging what we’ve been carrying.

You might consider bringing your journal to class this week and jotting down what arises after class or a meditation session.
